Holiday Season is approaching: Don’t get caught off guard

Holiday Season is approaching: Don’t get caught off guard

People are busy travelling, getting together with family and some even overindulge in food. Statistics show that during this time of year people tend to gain extra weight. It’s not necessarily the time of year per se but rather people find it difficult to go to the gym because they’re busy going on shopping sprees, visiting relatives near and far, etc. The tendency is to put off or neglect a regular workout routine.

When a person starts to neglect their exercise regimen it can have a negative impact. Here are some examples of what people experience during the holiday season like excess weight, depression and yo-yo dieting.

Excess weight – By over indulging in food and cutting off your exercise regimen weight can creep up on you. Only to notice that after the holidays have come to an end your scale appears to be broken or shows you gained weight.

Depression – There are a variety of factors that can cause a person to feel down during this time of year, such as less exposure to sun light, stress that can be caused by feeling overextended during the holidays and more.

Weight Cycling – After spending time to lose the weight you gained it’s crucial to know how to prevent the weight from coming back. Why? When you lose weight and gain it right back then lose weight and gain it back again it is known as a yo-yo diet or weight cycling. This can be detrimental to your health as Fitness magazine puts it:

“…”These changes cause you to start putting on weight around your middle, which research has linked to insulin resistance, diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.”

Many people experience difficulty with staying fit during the end of the year celebrations. Thus, they look for a solution to help them maintain their fitness level, especially during the holiday seasons that are approaching. There are a variety of solutions such as going to the gym, having an in-home personal trainer, etc.
